Laporta: “We want to renew Eto’o’s contract, but not at any price”
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has notioned that it is the club’s intention to renew the contract of striker Samuel Eto’o, but stipulated that it would not be “at any price”.
“We want to renew Eto’o’s contract, but not at any price because with this global economic crisis a good example has to be set,” said Laporta. “I hope that is understood. It will be clear in the coming weeks”.
The club has previously said that it will do “everything possible” to renew Eto’o’s contract, and Laporta has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep the Cameroon striker at the club. However that does not stop speculation about players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David Villa, Karim Benzema or Diego Forlán replacing Eto’o this summer.
